When rollers leave the track, stop using the door immediately, keep people and cars away, and do not pull the release cord if the door is anywhere but fully closed, because a racked door can slide the rest of the way without warning.

If the door is stuck partially open, do not release the opener and do not encourage children, pets or vehicles to pass under it. The opener trolley may be the only thing holding position. Unplug the opener so a remote press from a car cannot cycle it, and leave it exactly where it is.
A door that came off track while fully closed is the safe version of this problem; it can wait for a scheduled visit rather than an emergency call, which also costs less. What counts as a true emergency is covered on our emergency page.
Rollers crack and shed their tires with age, especially builder-grade plastic rollers; a roller that loses its shape exits the track under load. Track bolts loosen from years of vibration until the rail flexes away from the door. And the classic: a bumper tap on the bottom section that tweaks the track by a quarter inch, which is all it takes.
Whatever kicked the roller out is still there after you shove it back in. That is why re-seated doors jump again within weeks unless the cause is fixed.
The door is supported and clamped, rollers walked back into the rail, and then the actual repair starts: track measured plumb and gauge-checked to the door, mounting bolts torqued, damaged rollers and hinges replaced, cables inspected end to end because off-track events chew cable strands, and the door cycled and balance-checked. The market range for this work sits around $200 - $350; our exact price is agreed first, as always.

On a light single door that jumped one roller while closed, some homeowners manage it. The risk is that the door shifts while your fingers are in the track, and that the cause remains. Under spring and cable tension, this is seriously dangerous work.
Often not. If damage concentrates in one or two sections and the frame held, sections plus track repair cost well under a full door. Panel options are on the panel repair page.
A cable has likely slipped or snapped on the low side, or the drum set screws let go. That is a spring-system problem wearing an off-track costume, and it needs professional hands quickly.
